Some smaller model Ecowater & Tapworks water softeners had a motor with a plastic gear on their motor and a black plastic  cam gear, this kit is to replace the motor and cam gear with a stronger metal version due to the plastic gear on the motor breaking.

If the water softener is over 5 years old then the ASM 7238468 service kit should be replaced.
